Is anyone listening?

Mercury, the god of communications, retreats to his underground cave on August 2nd for 24 days--taking that Virgo clarity and brilliant logic with him. Perhaps our messenger planet's human side has battle fatigue from all the shouting, ignored pleas, and unheard Paul Revere warnings. When Mercury plays caveman, it's time to re-think. Have we been saying what we really mean?

This winged-messenger carries information from the depths of the unknown into the openness of daylight--going to hell and back for us, quite literally. Sometimes known as the trickster, Mercury offers synchronistic slight-of-hand revelations. These are his gifts to us--making conscious an unconscious "knowing."

Just before going retrograde on Tuesday, Mercury has a face-off with universally compassionate Neptune. We see media images of people with nothing left--nothing left to eat, to pay the bills--are scavenging through garbage for recyclables. Old, familiar lyrics come to mind..."freedom's just another word for nothing left to loose." Is rebellious Uranus in Aries showing us what a person with nothing to loose is capable of?

Can Venus and Mars help bring us together? Warrior Mars leaves Gemini on Wednesday, August 3rd. He sheaths his sword for a relaxing sojourn on the homey hearth of Cancer. Rhetoric and filibuster are left outside. But Mars gets a little moody in Cancer after about a day--not enough action. He's likely to pick a fight with Venus, who's relishing the spotlight on the Leo stage. She won't be diverted from her pleasures by his emotional outbursts. Mars needs a do-it-yourself project. Venus, always generous in Leo, might join-in if it beautifies their home. Give Mars some nails to hammer while Venus picks out the new paint colors and at least we have some playful diversions.

The Sun is at home in Leo

When political parties are jockeying for power at the expense of our already-strained personal resources, it tries the patience of a freedom-loving populace. Since Uranus entered the fire sign of Aries in March, 2011, he began delivering the lightening bolts of rebellion that aim to help us break through restrictive limits. The wars that rage outside us are simply a macrocosm of our inner conflicts. What does it mean to be free?

Now the Sun, in it's home sign of Leo, joins Uranus in an easy flow of dynamic energy which triggers our passion for a new way. Leo adds dignity, fixed purpose, and a regal dominion of the will to rule your own life. Stir in a stressful push from transformative Pluto, and we get pressure to be an agent of change.

Mercury, the messenger planet, is also in Leo--aiding with completion of our deals and contracts. Mercury briefly enters hard-working Virgo just in time for the Leo New Moon this Saturday, July 30th, at 11:40 AM PDT. Venus joins this New Moon party, bringing playfulness and a childlike wonder to the enjoyment of who we truly are.

On August 2nd Mercury goes retrograde, necessitating a re-working of the details of any communications made from that time until August 26th, when Mercury is direct again, back in Leo. Time to go inside, take another look around, practice your roar, and make your voice heard. Major innovations in thought processes, like A Course In Miracles, found their inception in one simple phrase--there must be a better way.

MoonDay morning in psychic Pisces

The days of the week are named for their astrological "rulers." Sundays are meant for Leo's. On this day, ruled by the Sun, we're inclined to lay back like regal lions, soaking up the solar rays from the heavens. Right now the Sun is still in the sign of Cancer, coloring the day with watery feelings and a desire to stay home and cook.

Monday's are influenced by the Moon, so they're often moody. This week begins with the Moon in poetic Pisces, making it a dreamier than usual day of emotions. The famous Piscean sensitivity is the muse of compassionate sympathy and the imaginative inspiration for your poetry today. Write. Compose.

Tuesday is ruled by Mars, hence it is the most action-oriented day of the week. With Mars in airy Gemini, this Tuesday is a day for debate, intellectual curiosity, and multi-tasking minds. Stir in the Pisces Moon to all that fast wind, and you've got big waves for a surfing contest!

Wednesday is your day to communicate, make calls, write contracts. Mercury, the messenger, rules this day. Mercury's in Leo now, giving you a strong, authoritative voice--dramatically forceful, self-confident, and backed by the willpower of a fixed purpose. But you may be running on impulse, since the Moon moves into fiery Aires Wednesday morning. Fireworks--short fuses.

Thursday is always a day of thanksgiving since it is ruled by Jupiter, the cornucopia of blessings. Big, generous Jupiter is now in wise-use-of-money Taurus. Dare I say it's a good day to shop? Yes, it'll be easy to attract a good deal.

TGIF is the cry of relief as we rush into Fridays, but do you know why? Friday is Venus' day. Time to enjoy the pleasures of life and fall into love. Venus is still in security minded Cancer, and tonight at 9:12 p.m. the Sun moves into loyal big-hearted Leo, making for a couple who will cherish each other. You can ditto that since the Moon just moved into sensual Taurus.

SaturnDay is the time for chores and errands and yard sales. Why? It's ruled by Saturn, the duty-bound keeper of promises and responsibilities. Since Saturn's in Libra, the honey-do list should be done by two. Libra loves to have a partner, but she'll be fair in distributing the workload. Saturn's a hard worker but believes in rewards for a job well done. Hence the satisfactions of a Saturday night live to laugh off the tensions of the week. It's always in the stars.

High apple-pie-in-the-sky hopes

This week begins with high hopes and solid initiatives. We have a go-out-and-gettum Sagittarius Moon for Monday and Tuesday. If you have personal planets in fire signs (Aries, Leo or Sagittarius) you're feeling optimistic and expansive, with flashes of inspiration. The same would hold true to a more cerebral degree for air signs (Gemini, Libra or Aquarius).

For earth signs (Taurus, Virgo or Capricorn) just hang on--you'll get lots of help digging out of emotional debris when Wednesday's Capricorn Moon turns full to the Cancer Sun at 1:40 PM PDT on Thursday. Water signs (Cancer, Scorpio or Pisces) flow through the week comfortably in the Cancer Sun's luxury yacht, with Venus as first mate--one of her favorite roles! A perfect time for at-home social gatherings with gourmet treats.

Saturn, the hard-working realist, is taking Venus to AA meetings this week, hoping to sober up her romantic haze. Venus is finding this to be a rude awakening. She's noticed that her dashing Mars lover has a ring around his colar, a button missing in a strategic place, and a faint smell of unfamiliar perfume. Venus thought he had committed to be her dinner partner, but now Saturn has given Mars a chance for a coveted overseas assignment and he's packing. Could it be things are not as they seemed?

Talking it out, with the help of Mercury the messenger, could work. Mercury is ruling in big-hearted Leo until July 28th. The Leo self-confidence and strong will makes a firm and regal referee for romantic dramas. Mars has the patience now to wait with flowers on the doorstep, and Venus is cooking humble pie with her own two hands. There's hope. Sunday brings rest and a sweet dreamy Pisces Moon to add a spiritual touch. Love is Leo's answer, always, for anyone who'll listen.

Freedom rings with Jupiter's bells & Pluto's drums

When America was born as a democratic and free government in 1776, Pluto was in Capricorn, just as it is now (November, 2008, through January, 2024). Re-structuring and transforming the right use of power for personal independence and economic security are foremost concerns of Pluto in Capricorn. And those ambitions are about to get a big boost...

Jupiter, the big guy of good fortune, will be in perfect harmony with Pluto on July 7th. For several weeks, before and after that date, we'll have brass-ring opportunities to fulfill our deepest ambitions and transform our lives. This is the meeting place of optimism and deep reform--literally a faith that can move mountains.

There will be a lot of messages flying around too. Mercury just made the move into strong-willed Leo, adding drama and force to your expression and strengthening your intellectual interests in creativity. The confident regal lion forms opinions slowly and changes them reluctantly. So, for the next 4 weeks, your speech may have a powerful roar and your thoughts a fixed determination of purpose. Perfect for winning at chess--making the all the right moves.
