June’s solstice is the peak of summer blooms and the thirst for knowledge. All the children suddenly out of school is dizzying. Think of this month of graduations as a rising tide of optimism, and an edgy anticipation of a bright new futures.
Like Joni Mitchell’s famous song, we’ll be trying to look at both sides now. Quick-witted Gemini calls our attention to the world of duality, and offers us the mental agility to escape the ruts of right and wrong, good and bad, by using Gemini’s ingenious nonconformity. Keep in mind that this Curious George knows nothing about staying calm or stopping when your plate’s too full.
Slowing down and turning inward with our thoughts will be provided by Mental Mercury as he turns retrograde on June 6th. His seemingly backward motion has a reputation for fouled-up communications and crashing computers, but it ain’t necessarily so...

Capricorn (December 21-January 19)
June is all about communications. With the messenger planet turning his back on us starting June 7th, you can expect misunderstandings, garbled speech and electronics that just won’t do what they’re supposed to do. You have a window of clarity from June 1st to June 7th for getting i’s dotted and t’s crossed. Get the signature on that deal and close it!
Trying to be understood, trying to hear what someone’s telling you will be a bit like chasing bubbles in a high wind. This retrograde period is more troublesome than usual because it’s solar powered by the chatty Gemini Sun who loves the fun of a wordy debate, just to keep the chatter going. Yes, this will drive you crazy! Here’s where your muse Saturn comes to your rescue. As soon as something turns nonsensical, the gavel comes down and court is adjourned. In fact, the image of doing business “in chambers” is the perfect solution for you until July 1st when Mercury gets back in forward gear. The best role for you as a Capricorn, the one where Saturn is an expert and a perfect muse, is being a Supreme Court Justice.
Your inner Voice, the quiet space where your Spirit lives, is in danger of being drowned out by all the external activity that’s been running at breakneck speed since Warrior Mars turned direct in Libra on May 19th. With Stern Saturn as your muse life’s often full of work! Not much room for frivolity, but very powerful when it comes to lasting success and prominence--his two favorite things to give you. Aquarius (January 20-February 17)

“Try to be a rainbow in someone’s cloud.”
This is the month to do it! June is focused on communications and, with a few cautions, makes you a marvelous wordsmith. Getting your message across will require something other than the direct approach. The probability of misunderstanding is high while everyone is doing the Gemini multi-tasking juggle. Gemini is your harmonious air sign, along with Libra, and the ruler of Gemini, Messenger Mercury, will go retrograde on June 7th. Since Mercury will be in the sign of watery Cancer when this happens, he’ll be gurgling his words from his underwater cave, and an interpreter will be needed until July 1st. Hint, hint.
Especially for earth and water signs, this retrograde period is much more troublesome than it usually is because it’s solar powered by the chatty Gemini Sun. Double servings of insatiable curiosity. Your life will be the scene of many wordy debates and hopefully ingenious solutions from your non-conformist fresh perspective. Retrograde Mercury can’t be bothered with details so this time is known for disruptions, but not dangers, in travel and electronic communication. Check and double check.
Do try to hold onto that even though that still quiet Voice within may be drowned out by all the external activity and people who’ve been running at breakneck speed since Mars turned direct in Libra on May 19th. Warrior Mars is also getting high octane fuel from a friendly Gemini Sun. Libra and Gemini are harmonious and very compatible signs for you, all three of you are in the intellectual air of ideas, and all of you have a lot to say!
June 21st the Sun shines in Cancer for the Summer Solstice, the beginning of summer in the northern hemisphere and the beginning of winter for the southern hemisphere. What you planted in early April is now blooming. New projects come to fruition.
June 12th is a high water mark time for you this month. A Full Moon in Sagittarius will fill your mind with the desire for adventure. Sagittarius is the sign of the traveler to foreign lands, including new and uncharted territory in the human mind. Just your cup of tea. This Full Moon falls in your 11th house of friends and humanitarian groups. It will bring you the freshness and alert anticipation of being an immigrant in a new country. In fact the ancient Sabian symbol, often referenced by astrologers, for the Moon at 23 degrees Sagittarius is: “A group of immigrants as they fulfill the requirements of entrance into the new county; consciously accepting the ways of a new experience, in readiness for the opportunities it will present.”
Pisces (February 18-March 19)
Few people have done what Maya Angelou did with such beauty, thanks to Pisces. She put words of poetry to deeply felt events, wounds, and passion. She had her Venus in your sign, it’s place of greatest compassion. And Messenger Mercury was also in Pisces, standing by Venus, letting her art fill the words. Stop and celebrate yourself.
Messenger Mercury will go retrograde on June 7th. Since he will be in the sign of watery Cancer when this happens, you will feel this turning inward a a very strong pull to remember your roots, to take full notice of your need for security and safety.
This retrograde period is solar powered by the chatty Gemini Sun. The airy sign of Gemini is Mercury’s home away from home, and the scene of many wordy debates! Communications, especially electronic, will wash out just when you’re in the middle of doing 3 things at once. And that’s what you’ll be trying to juggle!
Of course Mercury doesn’t actually move backwards when he’s in retrograde motion, although it can look like that to the casual stargazer. He’s actually navigating the curve at the far end of an elliptical orbit. It’s as if he has to slow down in order to make a hairpin curve without going off the rails. And this is the key to how you can make the best use of the period from June 7th to July 1st--slow down so you can change direction without tipping over! The messenger planet will be back in Cancer, in forward gear, on July 12th. Your words will pour out of your with renewed clarity, if you let yourself look inward in the meantime.
Get in-sync with your inner voice, which has likely been drowned out by all the external activity that’s been overloading your circuits and your calendar since Mars turned direct in Libra on May 19th. Warrior Mars is still picking up speed, fueled by a friendly Gemini Sun. It’s all a bit frantic for your tastes, so an excellent way for you to handle this time is to take time for that beach-read--do something just for the fun of it.
Neptune goes retrograde in Pisces on June 9th, so get out your Dr. Spock ability for mind melds! Although this is a subtle event, you’ll be most affected by it. Your spiritual quest takes a deeper significance. Visions fill your dreams and daydreams. Memories surface of events that still need some healing. You will be more in-tune psychically than you are now, out and out reading the minds and emotional fields of others. It’s very important to remember that what you’re picking up may not match the words the person is using. Not necessarily because they’re trying to lie to you, but rather because they are confused. If you look with your spiritual eye, you’ll see that they are simply not able to tell you the truth.
A word of caution about Saturday, June 14th when Mars squares Pluto. Accidents happen easily. Pluto is pulling you into an unusual intensity about changing certain aspects of your life. Your simply can’t, and don't want to, be in touch with the superficial stuff of life. You’re not interested!
The most productive and happiest time of this month comes with the New Moon in Cancer which occurs Thursday, June 27th at 9:11 PM, PDT. Whatever shows up in your life on this New Moon is an indicator of what you need to develop. Notice what’s new, and notice what feels old--let it go. Not easy for you, but freeing. Be very firm about this. It’s a time of feathering your nest with only those things that warm your heart.
