Cancer New Moon brings us home

This week will culminate with a solar eclipse the wee hours of Friday morning, July 1st, at 1:55 a.m., PDT.

This is the 3rd eclipse in a month-long cycle that began June 1st. This final in-sync line up will bring the Sun and Moon together in I-love-being-at-home Cancer.

An eclipse cycle is a repeating harmonic pattern, like perfect pitch, offering a time to tune into the shadowy space between words. If you listen to the music, you'll use this week's new Moon in Cancer to create what you need to feel truly at home. Make it a sanctuary, a sacred nourishing space, where you recharge and renew. Honoring your need for this grounds you--allowing you to channel those fiery Uranian lighting blots creatively.

Old structures in our world are still "under construction" from the on-going, tense square between Pluto and Uranus. Pluto will have no part in putting a fresh coat of paint on peeling surfaces. Worn out excuses for denying or misusing our natural instincts are cracking apart.

Holding on like a crab until sundown is a favorite expression around the Chesapeake Bay--referring to the crab's pinchers grabbing hold and refusing to let go until dark, when it scurries home. Many crabs have ended up in the fisherman's net this way. The Cancer crab teaches us that our natural protective instincts can be overdone, making it hard to let go--even when that's what would save us.

Sizzling Summer Solstice

Tomorrow, June 21st, is the summer solstice at 10:17 a.m., PDT. The Sun's annual ingress to Cancer marks the end of coaxing new seedling ideas to sprout, and the beginning of the time they bear fruit. The Sun is full-on heating things up, at the same time our astrological quantum soup threatens to boil over. What's all the steam about?

We have a star-crossed, long-term relationship between two formidable opponents--Pluto in Capricorn and Uranus in Aries. It's a challenging stress aspect designed to provoke changes in they way we walk the earth. The undercurrents of their conflict shakes apart old structures, and forces us to rebuild.

Pluto, the god of the underworld, is astrology's version of Darth Vader. His mask hides a dark secret, and the swooping long black cloak is formidable. For he rules the underworld, the hidden depths of our unconscious minds, where most of us fear to look. But what if, below this dark earth, your treasure lies waiting?

Uranus is known as the Great Awakener, as befits the god of lightening! If we're walking this earth with grounded practical feet, lightening will charge our systems with new bolts of ON energy. But, if we're flying high without a chute, Uranus will sizzle our circuits and trip the main switch OFF.

Steve Martin is ON when he says, "if you don't understand life, you're not watching enough movies." When the quest gets sticky, Luke Skywalker's courage is a model to emulate--he faces Darth Vader in the caves, and discovers the truth of his creation. Like us, he is both darkness and lighting--in one.

Graduate with a Happy Dream

It's no accident that graduations happen when the Sun is in Gemini (May 21st to June 20th). This is the astrological time of intellectual curiosity, books and more books, and the twin tasks of completing an education while standing on the threshold of a new life.

This week the stars add a promise of Happy Dreams come true. Why now? Because jovial Jupiter began a one year journey in wealthy, practical Taurus on June 4th, and has Neptune, the mystical guide, for a sidekick. Neptune entered it's home in the deep, watery veils of Pisces on April 4th, bringing compassionate visions of humanitarian, philanthropic outreach to others.

What a combo! Jupiter's cornucopia of happiness added to Neptune's empathy. They are sextile this week, a subtle, easy vibe that knocks gently on the top of your head, hoping you'll open your mind to be the mystic who walks the earth with practical feet.

Happy dreams come true, not because they are dreams, but because they are happy. Happiness is the messenger welcomed by everyone, and therefore it travels the whole world easily--dissolving walls of differences.

The time is ripe for happily walking in the shoes of everyone.
